Azerbaijan embassy in Belarus holds reception on occasion of Independence Day

On October 17 the embassy of Azerbaijan in Minsk held a reception on the occasion of Independence Day of the Azerbaijan Republic.
After the national anthems of both countries were performed, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Belarus Ali Nagiyev and the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Belarus Andrey Yevdochenko addressed the participants.

Welcoming the attendees, the Ambassador noted historical realities of the distant 1918 – the year of establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic the successor of which became the modern Azerbaijan. "It was the first secular republic in all Muslim East, which has united in itself the European democratic values and features of the Eastern national-spiritual culture", Nagiyev underlined.

The head of Azerbaijan diplomatic mission, in his statement especially stopped at the present stage of development of the country. Last years Azerbaijan, he underlined, is in number of world leaders on rates of economic growth, actively realizes the large-scale projects covering transport sphere, energy, building and other branches. Under construction are power stations, highways, factories, the infrastructure extends quickly and in the near future it will allow to involve ten thousand tourists from over the world. Important is, the Ambassador noted, that the modern Azerbaijan develops, basing on internal resources. The country has created powerful industrial potential, and it leads to diversification of economy and strengthening of economic stability.

The minister of culture of Belarus Pavel Latushko, the official representative of the United Nations in Belarus Antonius Brook, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Minsk, rectors of leading Belarus higher schools, heads of theaters, museums, journalists of the central Belarus mass-media, and also activists of the Azerbaijan Diaspora took part at the event.
