Turkish parliament holds symposium on Nakhchivan agreement on setting Council of Turkic-Speaking Countries’ Cooperation

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT) held a symposium dedicated to the Nakhchivan Agreement on Cooperation Council of Turkic speaking countries.
State Minister Faruk Celik noted that the “spirit of Nakhchivan” arisen in the first years of independence of the Turkic republics transformed to an Agreement last year in Nakhchivan. The structures to be established on the basis of the mentioned Agreement, will promote close contacts in the Turkic world. Choice of Nakhchivan is extremely logic as this area of Azerbaijan is somehow a “border gate” to Turkey.”

MP Vahid Erdem said the Nakhchivan Agreement became a new progressive step in cooperation of the Turkic countries.

“We wish our rapprochement led to the establishment of “seven states, one nation”, he emphasized.

Secretary General of TURKSOY Dusen Kaseinov noted that thanks to the Nakhchivan Agreement, the contacts of the Turkic world will become stronger. As he said, the appreciation given by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the activity of TURKSOY at the Nakhchivan summit aroused pride in the Organization.

Professor Shukru Haliq Akalin in detail told about the done work on creation of common Turkic language. A project devoted to the 20th anniversary of the Turkic world is also being prepared, he stressed.

According to the participants of symposium, the economic programs started with the project of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline also are extremely necessary from the point of view of creation of unity of the Turkic world.
