Director of the Russia and CIS Programs at the German Council on Foreign Policy Alexander Rahr believes that issue of the Armenian-Turkish relations has lost its relevance.

"I think that today this issue has a slight relevance. At the moment there is temporary cooling on this matter in the EU. But this does not mean that the issue is removed from the agenda,” the expert said.
Moreover, there is no longer urgent need to diversify gas supplies to Europe given the drop in gas prices, the expert added.
"There are still talks with Turkey over the Nabucco,. But there is no an urgent need to lay new pipes due to decline in gas prices. This issue and all matters related to opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and Turkey’s involvement with the economic and political projects in the South Caucasus have slightly lost relevance,” Rahr said.
As to Iran's nuclear program, the expert noted it is early to exclude possible military action against Tehran.
"For the moment developing new sanctions on Iran is first priority, whereas military action against this country is also possible. I'd say a military strike on Iran is possible on 10%. On the other 90% this won't happen,” Rahr noted.
