Film about Armenian vandalism shot by Trend news Agency presented to Ukrainian public

23 February 2010 [19:03] - TODAY.AZ
The Ukrainian city of Donetsk hosted a presentation of the documentary film "When words freeze…" (Sözün bitdiyi zaman).
Trend News Agency produced the movie as part of a project of the State Support for Media Development Fund.

Public, political figures and intellectuals of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, Diaspora activists and media representatives attended the presentation ceremony organized as part of the "Justice for Khojali" campaign.

WAC Ukrainian representative Mohlat Huseynov called a "historical injustice" the fact that the Khojali tragedy has still not been given political and legal assessment from international organizations and the world community.

"The Khojali genocide is not only a tragedy for 50 million Azerbaijanis, but also the entire world. I believe that turning a blind eye to the atrocious policy of Armenia, the international community has assumed responsibility for this crime," he said.

According to him, this film will play an important role in communicating the truth about Karabakh and Armenian vandalism to the world.

Mohsum Gadiroglu, JSC Azerbaijan Television and radio's special correspondent to Ukraine and Eastern Europe, said that many things have been done to bring to the attention of the world community the truth about the Karabakh conflict.

"The international community knew almost nothing about Nagorno-Karabakh ten years ago. Today, as a result of a deliberate policy carried out by the Azerbaijani government, it faces the need to recognize the aggressive and genocidal policy of Armenia throughout the history. I am sure that everyone who has watched such films can easily see what is hidden behind the guise of Armenians, presenting themselves as unhappy and resented people in the world," Gadiroglu said.

Trend News Agency Deputy Director Emil Huseynli, author of the movie, thanked the leadership of the WAC Ukrainian representatives for the support in broadcasting the film to the Ukrainian public.

"The 21st century is the age of information and we should switch our position in the information war with Armenia from defense to attack. I am sure that Trend will continue its activities to truly inform the world community about Karabakh," Huseynli said.

According to him, the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Ukraine demonstrates a true civil position in revealing the Armenian counter propaganda, which started two centuries ago.

"From this point of view, a presentation of 'Karabakh in the Mill of History' to 48 million Ukrainians in early February can be called a success of our strategy to conduct propaganda abroad. It was a joint project of the Public Television of Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Of course, the showing of the film on the eve of the 18th anniversary of the Khojali genocide is crucial to expose Armenian falsifications," Huseynli said.

Congress of Azerbaijanis in Donetsk President Iqbal Mahmudov and Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis in Donetsk Chairman Pirverdiyev Malik spoke at the event and stressed the importance for the Azerbaijani Diaspora to try harder to combat effectively the Armenian Diaspora.

According to the Society of Veterans Chairman Valery Sokolov the world community must know about the genocide committed by Armenians in Khojali.

"Khojali tragedy must be assessed not only as a crime committed against Azerbaijanis, but also as a crime against humanity. I am convinced that international organizations must give this genocide legal and political assessment," Sokolov said.
