Azerbaijan Democratic Party Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu has sent a congratulatory message to Husameddin Cindorug, Chairman of Turkey’s Democratic Party that recently merged with country’s Ana Vatan (Motherland) Party.
In his letter, ADP chairman proposed to establish a union to ensure cooperation of democratic parties in Turkic-speaking states.
Jalaloglu said he was hopeful that Turkish democrats will back this idea.
“After the collapse of the Soviet Union, establishing and strengthening of ties between Turkey, Northern Cyprus and the Turkic republics of Central Asia was the focus of attention of peoples of these countries. Certain formats of union have been created at official level,” ADP Deputy Chairman Hasrat Rustamov said.
“Apparently, the governments of Turkic-speaking countries still face many problems which result in grievances and tensions. We believe that one of the causes of such problems is lack of developed social ties between our peoples,” Rustamov said.
“That is why we initiated establishment of the United Democratic Party of Turkic-Speaking Countries in an effort to ensure a political platform to bring together peoples of these countries,” Rustamov added.
“Certain steps have already been made in this direction. Such a union is likely to be created with the help of Turkey’s Democratic Party in near future,” Rustamov said.
