Armenia-Turkey ties not to be restored without resolution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister

16 April 2009 [14:00] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's position is that the Turkey-Armenia ties can be normalized only after resolution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev said answering to the question of Mediamax on Baku's attitude towards attempts of Armenia and Turkey to improve the ties.

Minister Mammadguliyev is on a visit to Erevan to attend the meeting of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

"We consider the contacts between Armenia and Turkey as internal affairs of both sides. On the other hand, given the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, we follow the dialogue with interest and see that the Armenia-Turkey ties cannot be restored without resolution to the Karabakh conflict. We believe that these issues must be interconnected. This is our position," Mamadguliyev said.
