"Introduction of amendments to the Constitution is a social order. The parliament of Azerbaijan, considering the demand of the public, raised this issue at its session", said deputy parliamentary commission on human rights Yevda Abramov.
He said provision of the right of one and the same person to be elected more than twice is the opinion of the people.
"Why can't the president be elected for more than twice? For example, there are such ministers who worked on their post for more than 14-15 years. Why can't the head of the state, who works well, be elected for three or four times?
Such restrictions violate the right of both the elected and the voters. Introduction of amendments to the Constitution is perceived positively by the public. I think that such articles of the constitution, which hamper the development, must be changed.
The Constitution must fix people's demand as the source of power is people. Our country is entering 2009 with great achievements. In order to save this success, we must introduce amendments to the Constitution", noted Abramov.
