22 August 2008 [10:05] - TODAY.AZ
"Regardless of how the elections are held, if the civilized and consistent steps are taken in the policy, new ideas and programs for future are being formed beginning from the moment of results of elections coming out", said Rasul Quliyev, former speaker of Azerbaijani parliament and leader of the Open Society Party, commenting on the attempts of Azerbaijani opposition to create a new coalition.

He said that in order to define further prospects, the idea of creating a single coalition has been discussed by the Azerbaijani opposition for already two years.

"In current conditions, if we put aside the general words and principles, it is impossible to understand the main purpose of such a coalition. Yet, if the opposition leaders do not pursue the goal of attracting attention and here the point is not any adventures, the creation of a single coalition is a serious matter in this case.

In order to discuss the sociopolitical situation in the country, it is necessary to convene an all-republican session. It is necessary to analyze the actions of each structure and these powers should put forward a plan of proposals. After it, it would be necessary to prepare a general plan and take steps for creating a single coalition.

This is the only way out in the current political situation. And if there are politicians, who demonstrate tolerance, there will not be any harm to people.

"I have already said that I want the prosperity of my people, but to attain this, people should also demonstrate their will", concluded Quliyev.
