Azadlyg bloc holding consultations with parties, not participating in the presidential elections of Azerbaijan

18 August 2008 [14:28] - TODAY.AZ
The recent session of the Azadlyg party passed a decision to launch political consultations with the parties, not participating in the upcoming presidential elections of Azerbaijan, reports Day.Az with reference to the press service for the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan.
As is noted, following the rejection of the leading parties to take part in the presidential elections, a new political situation has established in the country. This, in turn, created conditions for cooperation of the opposition. In this connection, the bloc considers it expedient to launch political consultations.

In particular, deputy chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Fuad Mustafayev was instructed to launch political consultations on behalf of the Azadlyg bloc.

In turn, while talking to Day.Az correspondent, Fuad Mustafayev said that meetings with chief of the central office of the Musavat party Arif Hajili and head of the forum "For Azerbaijan" Eldar Namazov had already been held.

"During the meetings the sides exchanged view on the election situation and discussed possible forms of cooperation. We are planning to hold meetings with all the parties, which do not take part in the presidential elections. We hope that during the consultations we will be able to find single forms of cooperation", said Mustafayev.

As for the time the Azerbaijani coalition will be able to initiate mass actions, Mustafayev said:

"Everything will depend on the results of consultations. First of all, it is necessary to find common grounds and forms of our activity. Only then the actions and other arrangements will be possible", concluded Mustafayev.
