Khazar Ibrahim: "Russia does not control the infrastructure in Georgia, belonging to Azerbaijan"

18 August 2008 [13:54] - TODAY.AZ
We have no information about bombing of the BTC pipeline and the BP company has made the same announcement, said spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim, commenting on bombing of the Georgian section of the BTC pipeline by Russian servicemen, at a briefing today.

He noted that Russia does not control the infrastructure in Georgia, belonging to Azerbaijan. On the other hand, according to Ibrahim, there have been certain difficulties with transportation of Azerbaijani cargo via Georgia.

"Our work is aimed at restoring our economic activity in Georgia", said Ibrahim.

Moreover, the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry noted that the Kulevi oil terminal, which is a property of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, is functioning and there are no problems there, which may create particular concerns.

"It does not mean that oil and gas supplies are carried by full volumes via Kulevi. I would like to note that there are no troops of other countries there and equipment, intended for transportation of oil and gas, is completely safe", said Ibrahim.
