Azerbaijan's National Independence Party accuses Central Election Commission of jaundice

16 July 2008 [16:38] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijan National Independence Party has submitted an official appeal to the Central Election Commission, said spokesman for the party on issues of press and agitation Ali Orujev.
He said the party's appeal recommends to the Central Election Commission to observe requirements of the law and be neutral.

"The Central Election Commission must not engage in the politics. We have previously demanded punishment of the state officials, in case they fail to observe principles, fixed in the law. Yet, our appeal was not taken into account and the Central Election Commission has not taken any measures in this direction. Today, the party has officially appealed to chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panakhov.

Though, spokesman for the Central Election Commission Azer Sariyev states that the Popular Front Party is not strong and should not be feared of, nevertheless this is the first political structure, officially registered in the Justice Ministry.

Moreover, the Central Election Commission can not speak of the activity of the parties, especially or blame it for weakness. This breeds great doubts regarding further actions of this structure.

If the Central Election Commission does not consider our appeal, we may file a claim to the court against the Central Election Commission, based on the statements of the spokesman", said Orujev.
