Seminar on "Place and role of Public TV in Azerbaijan information sphere" started

Yesterday in International Press center seminar on "Place and role of Public TV in Azerbaijan information sphere" by the organization of Council of Europe and President's office started.
Chief of social-political department of President's Office Ali Hasanov making a speech in the measure stated that, director of PTV will be elected the next week: "The election of the director has been prolonged a little, as some of the members of Transmission Council are abroad. The next week director will be elected and we will try for PTV start its activity in June".

Chief of National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) Nushiravan Maharramli stated that, the activity of PTV is regulated by law, the activity of television will be controlled by the members of Transmission Council and NTRC: "In fact NTRC may not interfere in the activity of PTV. The organization may only give suggestions and advice to PTV. We consider that, political programs in PTV shouldn't be limited with news.

Only now as it is the eve of the election, it is possible to increase the number of such programs. Programs dedicated to the topics interesting to the public, programs of enlightenment and show character should be preferred in PTV".

Deputy Risvan Jabiyev stated that the greatest development in the field of media in former post soviet sphere is noticed in Azerbaijan: "Today PTV fear is present in Azerbaijan today. Some state that this TV will activate under the affection of the government. Another group thinks that PTV will result in chaos in the public. And at last, there's a group that believes in the perspective of PTV".

Lawyer Aslan Ismayilov stated the importance of sharing wide place for programs about the corruption, monopoly as well as show and entertainment programs. Seminar will be continued tomorrow.
