22 February 2014 [09:15] - TODAY.AZ
Senate of the U.S. State of Arkansas has unanimously adopted a resolution calling for support of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the country`s strategic partnership with the United States.

The resolution stresses the U.S.` support for Azerbaijan`s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and strategic partnership in the region.

The document praises Azerbaijan-U.S. cooperation in energy security, fight against terrorism, drug and human trafficking, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The resolution also notes the achievements of Azerbaijan in the economic area, and the country`s role in the region through the implementation of large-scaled projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

The resolution underlines the importance of preventing unresolved conflicts in the South Caucasus region from damaging peace and stability in Azerbaijan. It points to the recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders by the NATO, UN, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations.

Both houses of the Arkansas General Assembly adopted resolutions on the 21st anniversary of Khojaly genocide in 2013.
