NATO official: Azerbaijan is one of NATO's most important allies

Azerbaijan has adequate resources to continue its cooperation with NATO, head of the NATO liaison office in the South Caucasus, located in Georgia, William Lahue said at the conference 'Joint approach to energy security: Position of NATO and other parties' today.

Addressing the meeting, head of the NATO energy security department Michael Rühle said that Azerbaijan is one of NATO's most important allies in energy security.

Rühle said that Azerbaijan can also play an important role in joint energy security training with the organisation.

Azerbaijan is an extremely important partner for NATO, liason officer for Caucasus TBC William Lahue told journalists on November 21.

"The important thing is that NATO and Azerbaijan continue to closely cooperate on Azerbaijan's objectives in the partnership with NATO," Lahue said.

He also stressed the importance of Individual Partnership Action Plans (IPAP), which was signed last year.

"We expect to sign IPAP again," he said.
