Azerbaijan slaps terror attacks on Iranian embassy in Beirut

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry is saddened by the news of the death of an Iranian diplomat and a family member of the embassy's employee in a terrorist attack near the Iranian embassy in Beirut, Foreign Ministry spokesman, Elman Abdullayev told Trend on Nov. 20.

Abdullayev made the remarks commenting on the news about the terrorist attack in Lebanon, that led to the death of an Iranian diplomat and family member of the embassy's employee.

"We express our condolences to the friends and relatives of the victims and to the people of Iran, and as always we condemn terrorism in its various forms and manifestations," Abdullayev said.

The world community knows that Azerbaijan is on the forefront of the fight against terrorism, the spokesman said.

According to Lebanon's Healthcare Ministry, 23 people, including the Iranian cultural attaché and the spouse of one of the embassy's employee, were killed in the terrorist attack targeting the Iranian embassy in Beirut.

The killed also included four citizens of Iran as well as the employees of the diplomatic mission's security service.

Some 150 people got injured, including a lot of women and children.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades affiliated with al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
