'Azerbaijani opposition lacks single candidate for presidency '

20 November 2012 [13:39] - TODAY.AZ
It is impossible to nominate a single candidate from the Azerbaijani opposition party, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party Siyavush Novruzov told Trend today.

"We have previously said that the opposition will not put up a single candidate," he said. "This is impossible because each leader of the opposition parties has ambitions and there is a struggle for power within their camp."

The Popular Front Party and Musavat Party are exchanging accusations today as before, he said.

"However one must not worry," she said. "Nothing will change in society whether Isa Gambar or Ali Kerimli become a candidate because they lost the elections in a very bad way. It would be better if they put forward their candidacy for municipal, rather than the presidential elections."

Novruzov added that if they once again nominate their candidates for presidency, it will just be another show.

The presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan in 2013.
