Armenia continues illegal actions in occupied Azerbaijani lands

13 November 2012 [11:33] - TODAY.AZ
Armenia plans to build a military school in the occupied Azerbaijani lands. The statement came from the chairman of the Coordinating Council of the Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Karabakh, Orkhan Akbarov in his address regarding a military school planned to be built by Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh territory.

The statement noted that the next provocative and destructive step of the Armenian government is to construct a military school in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh land of Azerbaijan with the support of Armenian Diaspora.

"Showing a great will in the peace process that has been continuing for 20 years, Azerbaijan advocates peaceful settlement of this conflict. But the non-constructive position and aggressive policy of the Armenian side seriously harm the peace process.

Orkhan Alakbarov said that the construction of a military school in Shusha is a step that does not fit to any international legal norm. Once again ignoring human rights, international legal norms, influential international organizations and their decisions, The Armenian side continues showing disrespect to the adopted documents.

Any activity carried in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding regions without permission of Azerbaijan Republic roughly violates all international legal norms. The world community must give a correct legal assessment to this step and timely prevent such cases. The construction of the military school in Shusha once again shows that the Armenian government continues its aggressive policy with the support of its foreign sponsors and tries to preserve the status quo as much as possible.

These destructive steps means not just violation of rights of Azerbaijanis deprived of their lands, but also the rights of the Armenian people who used to live in Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenians who were forced to flee Nagorno-Karabakh should also voice their objection to the fruitless and aggressive policy. This is because Armenians who lived there 20 years ago know very well that Shusha is a historical cultural centre of Azerbaijan.”
