Chairman of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov believes the Armenian eldership’s policy is aimed at creating problems with neighbors. He commented on the Armenian experts’ views on Armenia’s hard situation in the region, as they argue due to ‘blockade’ or the aggravation of the situation around Iran.
Seyidov said one can find many reasons for Armenia’s current situation in the region.
"However, the main reason lies not in the external, but in the internal factor. The policy pursued by Armenia, was originally internally illogical, inconsistent and incorrect. Why? Because if you are surrounded by four countries, and you have territorial claims at least to three of them , then the future of such a policy seems unattractive and unpromising. Armenia has territorial claims to Turkey and Georgia, the Armenians generally occupied 20 percent of the Azerbaijani territory,” he noted.
The state policy pursued by the Armenian leadership, he believes, does not focus on building good-neighborly and mutually beneficial economic relations, but creating problems with neighbors.
"If Armenia's policy was aimed at recognition and observance of internationally recognized standards, it would be a party to theCaucasian development, if I may say so, full membership of European integration, which the Caucasus region seeks, and would not be a source of obstacles to this integration,” Seyidov stressed.
