United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has recognized an error in the “Human Development Report-2011”, in which Azerbaijan took 91st place on human development index.
The State Statistics Committee reported that on November 2, 2011, the UNDP made public Human Development Report-2011. The information showed that Azerbaijan took 91st place among the world countries: “The State Statistical Committee has analyzed this information, addressed authors of the report, experts of the UN, UNESCO Statistics Institute and asked to investigate the issue”.
“As a result of insistent correspondence, which lasted about two months, the UN Development Program acknowledged the error in relation to Azerbaijan in its annual report.
“In the report, for “Average duration of education” index, Azerbaijan was incorrectly listed as 8.6 years instead of 11.1 years, which resulted in an error. Milorad Kovačević, Chief Statistician of UNDP’s Human Development Report Office, said that this error had already been eliminated. As a result, Azerbaijan ranks 76th place in the world rankings”, told the Committee.
“In the report on “Gross National Income per capita”, Azerbaijan took 81st place: “In world practice, it is a fairly good indicator in direction of Azerbaijan’s economy for the purposes of human development”.
