Azeri documentary receives another award

A documentary “Miras” (Inheritance) by Azeri film director Fariz Ahmadov was honored with special award in the 17th Stalker Films Festival held in Russian capital Moscow. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) awarded Azeri film demonstrated as part of the special program of the UN`s Office in the Russian Federation.

The festival brought together movies produced in the United Kingdom (UK), France, Italy, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Romanian and other countries.
The director of the film Fariz Ahmadov got educated in the workshop of laureate of the USSR State Award Alexander Proshkin at the Russian State University of Cinematography with support of Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The “Miras” film was produced by Bir Addim film studio in 2010. The screen writer of the film is Esmira Ayyub, cameraman is Farid Bagirov and sound producer is Elshan Aslanzade. The Stalker International Film Festival is aimed at raising awareness of human rights issues and legal consciousness of Russian society through cinema. Stalker Festival is a non-political and non-profit event.

The Festival is held annually in Moscow and traditionally opens on December 10th, when adoption of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” by the UN is commemorated throughout the world. The Founders of the Festival is the Russian Guild of Film Directors and the Moscow Guild of Theater and Screen Actors. President of the Film Festival is People`s Artist of the USSR, President of the Russian Guild of Film Directors, Marlen Khutsiev.
