Prince Claus Fund award goes to Azeri photographer

Azerbaijani photographer Rena Effendi has been announced one of winners of the Prince Claus Fund award, according to the Dutch embassy in Baku. The prize winners will receive 25 thousand euros.

The awarding ceremony will be held in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam on December 14.
Among other winners were artists from Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Uzbekistan, Haiti, Lebanon, Palestine, and China.

Effendi currently lives in Cairo, Egypt. She is a winner of the competition of an international fund of documentary photography Fifty Crows.

In 2007 the US based journal “Photo District News” selected Effendi in the list of 30 most famous photographers in the world. Her photographs have been published in the journal “Le Monde”, “Le Figaro”, “Liberation”, “Courier International”, “Newsweek”, “Days Japan”, “Response Photo”, "Spark," "Expert" and "Big City".
