Beyoncé receives cosmetology school honour

07 March 2010 [09:43] - TODAY.AZ
Beyoncé has had a New York cosmetology school named in her honour.
The singer previously spent time at the Phoenix House substance abuse centre in Brooklyn while preparing to play former heroin addict Etta James in the 2008 film Cadillac Records.

After giving her salary for the film to the programme, Beyoncé and mother Tina Knowles suggested that it be used to launch a cosmetology course.

The pair returned to the centre this week to open the Beyoncé Cosmetology Center and thank staff and students at Phoenix House.

The school will allow recovering addicts to rebuild their lives and embark on careers in the cosmetics industry.
