Fifth Int'l Book Fair kicks off in Baku

The fifth Baku International Book Fair has opened its doors to exhibitors and visitors.

More than 100 national and 30 foreign publishing houses are taking part in the event, organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

The main purpose of the fair is to promote reading habits, familiarize readers with the national and foreign publications, as well as create cooperation opportunities between national and foreign publishing houses, Azertac reported.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev, addressing the event, praised holding numerous international events in Baku, saying the country is represented in international book fairs abroad.

Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev, in turn, highlighted the care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the fields of culture, tourism and education.

He stressed the importance of the traditional holding of this event.

As usual, during the fair, author days, numerous presentations and literary meetings are organized within the event.

The book fair will last until September 30.
