London to host conference on Azerbaijan’s financial opportunities

On 7 November, a conference entitled Azerbaijan’s Untapped Opportunities: What Financial Institutions Need to Know, is organised by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) and Baker & McKenzie CIS Ltd, in the City of London. The sponsors/partners are TheCityUK; Middle East Association; Pathfinders Trade & Invest; and Templeton Thorp.

This is a pivotal time for the financial sector, and speakers will include Dan Matthews, Partner, Baker & McKenzie CIS Ltd.; Mike Taylor, Director for Financial Institutions in Central Asia, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); Uzma Khalil, Financial Sector Specialist, Private and Financial Sector Development Europe and Central Asia Region, The World Bank; and representatives from Central Bank of Azerbaijan; State Oil Fund (SOFAZ); and the State Committee of Securities. Subjects to be covered will include the development of Azerbaijani capital markets; structuring a debt offering; risk management practices; and access to finance.
