GUAM Secretary General: Azerbaijan can export 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe in the next 10 years

“I hope the energy projects will be on agenda during the Azerbaijan’s presidency in GUAM from next January”, GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili said at the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly’s meeting in Baku.

Chechelashvili said 60-70 billion cubic meters of natural gas should be delivered to the European markets from various sources and touching upon the newly-discovered gas fields in Azerbaijan, added that Azerbaijan considered 54 billion cubic meters gas production in the next ten years. “Considering Azerbaijan’s 10-15 billion cubic meters of domestic need, we can expect 40 billion cubic meters gas export from Azerbaijan in the next ten years”.

Chechelashvili added that there are three prospective projects – Nabucco, White Stream and LNG - for transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe
