SOCAR President meets with Itochu Corporation's official

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev on Thursday met with a delegation led by co-chair of the Japanese-Azerbaijani Economic Commission, Itochu Corporation's Energy, Metals & Minerals Department President Yoichi Kobayashi, SOCAR said.

Kobayashi said that Itochu has special confidence in the oil and gas project "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" among the international projects implemented by the Corporation and wants to expand its participation in it.

According to him, the Corporation is also interested in trading of oil and oil products with SOCAR on an international scale, as well as cooperation in the petrochemistry sphere.

Abdullayev said that SOCAR has received the Turkish Government's permission to build a new oil refinery with design capacity of 10 million tons per year, which has created vast perspectives for cooperation in this sphere.

Abdullayev said there are opportunities in this and other projects to deepen the cooperation between the two companies and SOCAR will carefully consider Itochu's proposals, as well as proposals of other interested companies.
