Azerbaijani official: Petrol stations sell substandard fuel
12 December 2009 [13:27] - TODAY.AZ
“We conduct regular monitoring into quality of foods. Similar monitoring is conducted at petrol stations
too and we have revealed some problems with quality and amount of
fuel sold to the consumers”, chairman of the State Committee for
Standardization, Patent and Meteorology Ramiz Hasanov told media.
He said fuel quality in petrol stations do not meet world standards.
“The problem is that they add additives to fuel in some petrol stations. They mix high-octane fuel with low-octane fuel. We are taking measures to prevent such cases and to
fine owners of those stations”.
Hasanov said new European standards would be implemented in the
field of food industry in 2010.
“We will implement those standards to
increase our export capacity."
The committee chairman said they were
planning to open Etalon Center next month.
"We will purchase all
equipments under that program to open the center," he added.
