SOCAR completes construction of platform as a part of large gas project

SOCAR will launch development of this perspective field for the first time in the past 20 years.

The exploration drilling is scheduled to begin this month.

The depth of the first exploration well will be 6,500 meters, 4,000 of which will be drilled this year, the SOCAR representative said earlier.

Umid-1 platform built on the base of unfinished Chiraq-6 platform is the largest facility within the program. The platform will be installed 15 kilometers from the Bulla Daniz field at a depth of 58
meters. A total of six gas wells are expected to be drilled from the platform.

The total assumed gas reserves in Umid offshore field are estimated at 200bln-300bln cu meters.
