SOCAR Energy Georgia divulges volume of oil products exported to Georgia

"In this period, we sold 127,000 tons of different oil products to Georgia and roughly 90 percent of this volume fell to petrol and diesel fuel," Mammadov said.

Mammadov said petrol and diesel fuel is sold on the Georgian market alomst at the same quantity and the remained part of oil products falls to aviation kerosene, liquified gas and black oil which is sold on the market at small quantity.

Roughly 30,000-31,000 tons of oil products are sold to Georgia per month.

At present use of oil products on the Georgian market dropped by 5-10 percent, the company's head said.

Earlier Mammadov said, SOCAR Energy Georgia plans to sell over 400,000 tons of the Azerbaijani oil products to Georgia in 2009.

In 2008, Georgia exported 400,000 tons of the Azerbaijani oil products compared to 196,000 tons in 2007.

The Azerbaijani oil products occupy almost 50-60 percent of the Georgian market. The Azerbaijani diesel fuel occupies around 60 percent of the market and petrol - 52-55 percent, Mammadov said earlier.

In January to April 2009, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) transferred roughly two million tons of oil for refining compared to 2.5 million tons in the same period of 2008.

SOCAR transferred roughly 7.35 million tons of oil for refining in 2008.

Azerbaijani oil products are produced at two SOCAR-owned Baku oil refineries with the total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. SOCAR annually processes roughly six million tons of oil produced from onshore and offshore fields through its owns funds.
