Potato and egg consumption rises in Azerbaijan

The calorific value of the ration of an average citizen of Azerbaijan made up 2,505.4 kcal in 2007 which is 10.9% higher than the minimum calorific value per a person, according to the minimal consumer basket.

According to Day.Az, the due conclusion was made on basis of a research, held by the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan on the basis of methodology of the World Bank on 4,284 housing economies in 2007. At the same time, the daily ration includes 73.3 grams of protein,67.8 grams of fat and 463.9 grams are carbohydrates.

The consumption of different products by the population has risen by 0.2-0.6% in average. The rise was the highest in potato and eggs consumption -by 3.5% and 2.6% in average.

Thus, it was revealed that an average citizen of Azerbaijan consumed 158.9 kg of bread and bakery products, 50.8 grams of potato, 78.6 kg of vegetables, 55.5 kg of fruits and berries, 29.2 kg of meat and meat products, 6.6 kg of fish, 280.2 liters of milk and dairy products, 123 eggs, 31 kg of sugar and 8.4 kg of vegetable oil and butterine.

In line with the said survey in 2007 the average monthly income per a person made up AZN 92.2 (including taxes, social insurance and others-AZN 140.9), in cities this amount made up AZN 97.6 and in villages AZN 86.5, in Baku AZN 111.2.

At the same time, persons at the age of 16-39 almost do not have any complaints about health, though it became clear that only 24% of men and 6.9% of women older than 16 go in for sports. 38% of men and 0.1% of women smoke, while the average smoking practice makes up about 19 years.

65.3% of families including 46.3% in towns and 87% in villages live in a separate flat. Each citizen accounts for 17.9 square meters of residence in average, in particular, 16.2 square meters in towns and 19.8 square meters in villages.

67.2% of families live in two and three-room flats, 28.1% in four-room flats and more and 4.8% in one-room flats.

87.2% of families have color TV, 94.1% fridges, 23.6% use satellite antennae, 2.8% have computers and 1.8% access to Internet.
