25 February 2008 [10:51] - TODAY.AZ
A company, connected with Mikhail Gutseriyev, has bought Azerbaijani fields.

Global Investment Energy, connected with ex-president of Russneft Mikhail Gutseriyev, has purchased a share in two companies, developing four Azerbaijani oil fields from Canadian Nations Energy Co.Ltd.

The due information has been provided by Lenta.ru with reference to Interfax.

The company purchased 85% share in Karasu Operating Company, operator of the Mishovdag and Kelameddin fields as well as 80% in the Kura Valley Operating Company (KURA), operating Padar and Kharami fields.

All legal procedures have been completed and Global Investment Energy has become an owner of these companies. The State OIl Company of Azerbaijan is another shareholder of oil production in the fields.

It should be noted that Mikhail Gutseriyev was put on the international wanted list in August of 2007 for illegal entrepreneurship and tax evasion.

His son-21st year old Chingiskhan Gutseriyev died under unknown circumstances in August of 2007. His body was brought to Azerbaijan. The farewell ceremony was held in the Blue Mosque of Baku under religious traditions of Moslems. By some unreliable sources, Mikhail Gutseriyev came to Baku to see his son off by a roundabout way.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev presented his condolences on Gutseriyev's son's death.

Later Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov rebutted information according to which the ex-president of Russneft is hiding in the Baku suburbs.
