Azerbaijan offers direct supplies of its oil-and-gas equipment to Ukraine

Ukrainian Minister of Fuel and Energy Yuri Progan met with the ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Talyat Aliyev in Kiev.

During the meeting the ambassador spoke of the experience of the country in the construction of oil and gas terminals, modernization of oil refineries, reformation of energy security in conditions, when powers preserves the functions of effective control over the use of energy sources.

The sides agreed with the necessity to study possible creation of the representation of the national stock company "Neftegaz Ukraini" in Azerbaijan.

The sides voiced hope that the meeting will intensify cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas complex.

Azerbaijani side offered Ukraine to pass to direct supplies of its oil and gas equipment to Ukraine

According to the ambassador, the engineering oil and gas complex of Azerbaijan is ready to supply high quality production, which complies with international standards IOS 9001-2000 and API specifications.

According to him, Ukraine currently purchases equipment via brokers, who sometimes supply low-quality production to the Ukrainian market.

In this connection, there have been failures on the Ukrainian producing establishments, which caused material damage and injuries to people.

This situation in turn affectes the image of the Azerbaijani producer. The ambassador offered Ukraine to consider possible transfer to direct supplies of equipment with due guarantees and substantiated prices.

Considering the aforementioned facts, Prodan instructed to intensify work of the due work group which must analyze the proposal of the Azerbaijani side. "Transfer to direct supplies is politically and economically substantiated", the Minister said.

He noted that the commodity turnover between the two countries will rise at the expense of direct supplies of oil-and-gas equipment.

By results of 2006 the commodity turnover between the two countries made up $270 million. In 2007 it was forecasted to be $570 million.
