President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held two meetings in the framework of the economic forum in Davos.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met Thursday with President of the Swiss Confederation Pascal Couchepin in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.

The sides stressed that bilateral relations are developing successfully.

Swiss President said he is aware of the rapid economic expansion in Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev touched upon the ongoing economic growth in Azerbaijan, and accomplishments achieved in the energy sector.

Couchepin said Swiss companies are keen on the energy sector of Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan’s role in ensuring Europe’s energy security had been enhanced.

The Azerbaijani leader expressed confidence that bilateral relations between the two nations will continue to develop.

The meeting also focused on the regional issues and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Garabagh.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The sides discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, energy security, Odessa-Brody-Plotsk-Gdansk oil pipeline, projects on establishment of a single energy transit area.

Ilham Aliyev confirmed his participation in the energy summit to be held in Kiev in May and said he will pay official visit to Ukraine before this business visit.

The Presidents discussed opportunities of expanding cooperation in the framework of GUAM.

An official part of the World Economic Forum started in Davos, Switzerland today.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made a report on energy security and Azerbaijan’s role as one of the alternative energy sources in the forum.

He touched upon the issues of energy projects, as well as Nabucco gas project planned to be carried out, Azerbaijan’s policy pursued in the direction of integration into Europe, regional cooperation and Nagorno Garabagh conflict.

The President noted that resolution of Nagorno Garabagh conflict is important for stability and comprehensive cooperation in the South Caucasus.

Azerbaijani President will participate in the seminars to be held on peace and Russia's relations with neighbor countries and join “Russian night”.

He will meet with several businessmen and officials, as well as US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The due information has been provided by Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Switzerland Elchin Amirbekov.

He said, the head of state met with the chief executive of the US Jewish Committee,David Harris. The sides discussed need to develop bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, as well as other issues of mutual concern.

"On the same day, President Ilham Aliyev met with Prime Minister of Hungary Ferentz Durchan. The sides discussed current level of bilateral relations and displayed interest in the development and strenthening of ties. Possible cooperation of Azerbaijan and Hungary in energy sector has also been discussed", Amirbekov announced.

Touching upon the meetings scheduled for January 24, Elchin Amirbekov said that President's working schedule for that day is rich enough.

He noted that I.Aliyev is to meet with President of Switzerland Pascal Kushpen, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushenko, Foreign Minister of Israel Tsipi Livni, leaders of a number of companies, including chief executive of CISCO, head of BP and others.

Moreover, an energy summit to be attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will take place in the framework of the Davos forum on Thursday.
