Project implemented for improving drinking water supply of populated areas of Absheron

Project for improving drinking water supply of the populated areas of Baku and Sumgayit, as well as Apsheron is implemented on transmitting the subsoil waters in Alazan-Ayrichay (Oguz-Gabala) valley located 315 km apart from Baku, 500 meters higher than the sea level to Sangachal pumping station unit.
APA was informed by press secretary of “Azersu” Stock Company Agshiin Rustamov.

Construction works are held in the water network’s transporting lines of Balaken, Shamakhi, Jalilabad, Agjabedi, Beilagan, Ismailli, Kyurdamir, Sabirabad, Khachmaz regions by the account of 6 billion manats allocation from the budget. Reconstruction works will be implemented for improving water supply of Gusar, Guba, Siyezen, Salyan, Bilesuvar, Lenkeran, Sabirabad, Kyurdamir, Yevlakh, Gakh, Zagatala, Saatli, Shamkir, Khanlar, Geranboy, Oghuz, Yardimli, Aghsu and Gobustan region soon.

According to A.Rustemov, water supply of Baku, Sumgayit and Apsheron peninsula is realized by means of Head Clearing Installations, water-mains and distributing water pipes of different diameters more than 4000 km in length, 25 regional and 626 local lifting pumping stations.60-70 percent of these set and  pipes have already been used twice more than their exploitation terms. He said of the drinking water delivered to the settlements to be passed 30-35 chemical bacteriological, radiological examinations in the laboratories.
