The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has started drilling a new well in the shallow part of the "Guneshli" field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR said.
According to the report, the well is being drilled from the "Gunashli-10" platform to a projected depth of 3,100 meters. According to the geologists' calculations, the well will produce 100 tons of oil per day.
"Guneshli" field's deep-water section is in the "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" oil and gas fields and is being developed by SOCAR and foreign companies.
SOCAR includes Azneft (onshore and offshore oil and gas production), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas (gas distribution) production associations, as well as a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations.
