Azerbaijan will further facilitate trade

03 December 2012 [10:10] - TODAY.AZ
"Azeriterminalkompleks" association under the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee has signed a cooperation agreement with the Swedish group "Border Services KGH", a report published in private newspaper Gomruk said today.

The signing took place in Baku within the official meeting between State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev, former director of the World Customs Organization Capacity Building Directorate Lars Karlsson and executive director of the "Border Services KGH" Patrick Heyness.

It is planned to establish an automated information system within the contract to improve supply management, which facilitates trade.

Aliyev said that today Azerbaijani Customs has a legal and material-technical base complying with international standards, a modern infrastructure and information and communication technologies.

"Besides expanding the international relations, this will contribute to the formation of the state budget revenues and robust economic security of the country," he added.

Carlsson said that there is a positive trend of developing the customs service. The country is an example for the region. One can hope that as an active member of the World Customs Organization and through mutual cooperation, it can turn into the organization differing from other countries in the world and at the global level.
