The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry forecasts the grain harvest in the country in 2013 at least at the level of 2.7-2.8 million tons, Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov told media today.
As of nine months, around 2.763 million tons of grain was collected in the country, of which 1.844 million falls to wheat.
He said that it is good that the grain yield this year increased by 1.6 per cent and wheat by 1.7 per cent in 2012.
"These figures are positive," he said. "After large farms start working we will be able to produce grain in the volumes that would cover all the demand in the country."
Today Azerbaijan is celebrating a professional holiday of agricultural workers.
