'Deflation continues in Azerbaijan'

There was a deflation in Azerbaijan for the last four months, the State Committee on Statistics said on Tuesday.

"Consumer prices and tariffs for services decreased by 0.7 percent, including for foodstuff products - by 1.4 percent, prices for industrial goods and tariffs for services remained unchanged In July compared to June, ," a statement said.

At the same time, consumer inflation was two percent, including food prices increased by 2.3 percent, nonfood goods - by 1.3 percent, prices for services increased by 1,6 percent in seven months compared to the same period last year.

Income of the population increased by 13.9 percent to 18.2 billion manat in January-July 2012, per capita incomes - by 12.3 percent to 1992.8 manat (average per month - 284 7 manat) compared to the same period last year. Some 63.2 percent of income was spent on final consumption, 8.8 percent - to pay taxes, deductions for social insurance and voluntary membership fees, 26.2 per cent - an increase in deposits and capital.

The average monthly wage of employees increased by 8.3 percent to 384.5 manat during the first half of the year.
