Celebrity Ambassadors played an important role at the 1st European Games in Baku.
This remark was made by Simon Clegg, Chief Operating Officer of the BEGOC at the final media conference in Baku, devoted to the completion of the "Celebrity Ambassadors” project.
Clegg thanked the participants of the project and went on to say that it would be possible for such projects to be organized again in the future.
The most significant sporting event of the summer, the first-ever European Games in Baku, attracted more than 6,000 of the best athletes from 50 European countries. During the 17 days of competitions, the Games featured 20 sports, 16 of which were Olympic, while the other four made their sporting debuts at Baku 2015.
Singers Tunzala Aghayeva, Roya, Miri Yusif, Eurovision winners Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal, comedians Bahram Baghirzade, Rafael and Joshqun, Tahir and Jabir Imanov, and musician DJ Shock, as well as the well-known presenters Murad Dadashov and Ilkin Hasani were chosen to encourage people to get involved in the European Games.
Then, two more celebrities, television personality Azer Garib and nationally renowned television host and patron of good causes Nuran Huseynov, also joined the list of the celebrity ambassadors.
The Celebrity Ambassadors Program allowed Baku 2015 to reach a range of audiences in Azerbaijan and Europe, using the celebrities’ star appeal and popularity to share messages about the Games.
Participants helped promote the Games by visiting venues, taking part in the countdown events, supporting campaigns, and using their own social media channels to reach millions of followers.
