Azerbaijani border guards arrest 117 criminals wanted by police

The Azerbaijani border guards detained 117 people who were wanted by the police in March, the Azerbaijani State Border Service reported. The detainees were transferred to the law enforcement agencies.

The border guards prevented 44 violations of the state border and arrested 85 people. Some 69 persons were arrested in 37 cases. The appropriate measures were taken.

Of the criminals, 49 are citizens of Azerbaijan, eight - Afghanistan, five - Iran, three - Georgia, two - Russia, one - Turkey and Kazakhstan.

The officers arrested 26 people in 14 cases for violating the border regime and 21 people in 13 cases for violating the regime in the coastal are of the Caspian Sea. Appropriate measures were taken.

The border guards also seized five kilograms of narcotic substances in 10 cases of trafficking and confiscated contraband worth 164,000 manat in 74 cases of smuggling.
