A Turkish Airlines (THY) aircraft made an emergency landing at Atatürk International Airport on Wednesday shortly after its departure from the same airport after a passenger tried to open the emergency exit door.

The plane was en route to Stockholm and took off at 8:40 a.m. from Atatürk International Airport. The Anatolia news agency said a woman in her fifties, who reportedly has a mental disorder, tried to open the emergency exit door a few minutes after departure.

The pilot of the aircraft decided to return to İstanbul and requested permission from airport officials for an emergency landing. The plane landed in the airport safely and the woman was escorted off the plane. She was reportedly questioned by airport officials.
