The Majlis (parliament) of Turkmenistan during its regular meeting adopted the law “On freedom of religion and religious organizations”, Turkmen government said in a message March 31.

This law is based on the fact that Turkmenistan, being a democratic, legal and secular state, guarantees freedom of religion and belief.

Turkmenistan ensures equal rights to every person, regardless of his (her) religious beliefs, the message said.

A nationwide discussion of the draft of new edition of the Turkmen Constitution is being held in the country at this stage.
