17 October 2013 [12:38] - Today.Az
The debates between the Georgian presidential candidates will be held in live broadcast on the First TV channel of the Public Broadcaster on October 17-18.
The broadcast will be led by the journalist Eka Mishveladze.
Seven candidates (Giorgi Margvelashvili, David Bakradze, Koba Davitashvili, Sergo Dzhavahidze, Georgi Targamadze, Zurab Kharatishvili, Teimuraz Zhvania) will participate in the debates and will have equal time for presenting their election program, as well as to have discussions with other candidates.
Nevertheless, one presidential candidate, ex-Speaker, the leader of the Democratic Movement Nino Burjanadze stated that the debates on the First TV channel is "provocation and show".
"I am ready to have debates with Margvelashvili on any TV channel at any time. Which democracy does the ruling team talk us about when it refuses to have debates with the main competitors. I assure you that no one needs such a democracy," Burjanadze said.
Presidential election in Georgia will be held on October 27.
