Georgia will continue its aspiration for NATO membership. A meeting of the Euro-Atlantic Council held in Tbilisi last week testified to this, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili told media on Wednesday.

"The European choice is a decision of the Georgian people," he said. "This was documented in a referendum as of 2008 and we do not intend to give it up."

Ivanishvili said that a meeting of the North Atlantic Council and NATO Secretary General's visit to Georgia was successful. According to him, the alliance is a good condition for Georgia's security.

According to the latest poll, 61 per cent of the population instead of the previously registered 75 per cent supports joining NATO.
