A meeting of the Supervisory Board of the project "Support for the Department of Emergency Management of the Interior Ministry for the further development of emergency management", funded by the European Union was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Union Delegation to Georgia and project partner "The General Directorate of Civil Defence and Crisis Management in France", as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the Interior Ministry informed Trend.

The meeting analyzed achievements and outlined prospects for cooperation. The main purpose of the project is support for the Department of Emergency Management in improving its crisis management system.

The project's budget is €800,000.

Work on the improvement of legislation on emergency and disaster management, civil defense and prevention mechanisms at the national level increases the capacity of the Department of Emergency Management in terms of raising public awareness on risk identification, the improvement of prevention mechanisms and responses undertaken within the project.
