Bill on 'patients' rights' to be submitted for public debate in Azerbaijan

18 April 2011 [15:44] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Parliamentary Social Policy Committee chairman Hadi Rajabli said a bill ‘On patients' rights’ will be presented for public discussion.

"We can not hurry with the adoption of such a law," Rajabli said. "The main issue is to inform the public about its nature and consider proposals."

He said the law ‘On patients' rights’ will govern the relationship between doctors and patients. "Patient pays for treatment at the private health facilities, but his or her rights are not ensured in case of accidents or complications," he added.

The law ‘On patients' rights’ will reflect the administrative and judicial responsibility of doctors for their mistakes.

The law will also reflect the patient's right to receive information. The document will forbid the use of any methods of treatment without the consent of patients.
