As previously reported, last Friday, an incident occurred between Azerbaijani private taxi driver Isik Isagov and agent of special police squad “Bulat” of the Interior Ministry Dmitry Verejnikov at the intersection of Schelkovskiy highway in Moscow on Friday. Isagov died as a result of the incident.
Today it became clear that the cause of the incident doesn’t exclude the fact that Dmitry Verejnikov acted beyond self-defence. Thus Isagov allegedly was attacking him with a knife, RIA Novosti reported today.
"According to the preliminary information, Verejnikov hit the Azerbaijani citizen to defend himself" - a spokesman said.
A criminal case was launched against the special forces agent.
Meanwhile, according to Lifenews.ru, eyewitnesses of the tragedy say that the special forces agent pulled Isagov out of his own car VAZ-2107, wrung his hand, pushed him down and gave a few blows to his head and body and then hit his head on the street curb. According to the Russian Investigation Committee, this was later confirmed in the aftermath of the investigations.
That time there were tens of people in the street who desperately tried to prevent the consequences of the incident. They saw no knife in the taxi driver’s hands. On the contrary he was trying to apologize to the agent.
