On 27 October 2006, the United Nations office in Baku hosted a Model UN Conference, teaming up with a group of graduate and postgraduate students of various departments of the Baku State University.

The event, dedicated to the commemoration of the UN Week, was a simulation of a session of the Security Council. This model UN Security Council meeting was focusing on the nuclear programme of Iran.

Envera Selimovic, representative of the Department of Public Information in the United Nations Office in Baku, made a speech at the event. She spoke about the significance of UNO in Azerbaijan.

It is planned that those students who represent 15 Member States of the Security Council will hold a series of discussions before adopting a 'resolution.' Other representatives of interested parties, such as International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), have also participated. AzerTAg
