Ahmadinejad: Iran plans to increase non-oil exports to $45bln

04 May 2011 [09:52] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad underlined Iran's capability to further decrease the country's dependence on oil in budget revenues, and said Tehran plans to boost non-oil exports up to $45bln this year, FNA reported.

The country needed to make a huge move in exploiting all its resources to gain $45bln of non-oil exports this year (Iranian year, started March 21), Ahmadinejad said, addressing a number of Iranian workers on the occasion of the "Labor Day" in Iran.

He also said the growth in the volume of Iran's non-oil exports in previous years which has now reached $30bln proves the fact that Iranians "are a capable nation".

Iran had earlier announced that it plans to boost its non-oil exports to $80bln within the next five years.

According to a cabinet approval signed and issued in March by a number of cabinet ministers who are also members of Iran's High Council for the Promotion of Non-Oil Exports (HCPE), the country's non-oil exports in the current Iranian year will raise to $43bln out of which $31bln will be gained through exporting goods and $12bln through exporting services.

The approval also predicted a gradual growth for Iran's non-oil exports, and said the country's non-oil exports will increase to $43bln, $50.5bln, $59bln, $69bln and $80bln in the next five years, respectively.

According to official reports, Iran's non-oil products are exported to 160 countries of the world. China, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea and Belgium are the main destinations and markets of the Iranian products.
