Muslim brotherhood may face ban in Egypt

03 September 2013 [09:15] - TODAY.AZ
Egypt's new authorities intend to prohibit the Muslim Brotherhood's activity in the country, Anadolu agency said today.

According to the report, the Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers got the request to ban the Muslim Brotherhood's activity from the Council of Experts under the country's government.

The arrests of the members of "Muslim Brotherhood" movement began after ex-President Mohamed Morsi was overthrown as a result of the military coup. Morsi himself, as well as Muslim Brotherhood leaders were in the Cairo prison. He is accused of collaboration with Hamas and escape from prison in 2011.

The Muslim Brotherhood has been outlawed in Egypt for decades. Only after Hosni Mubarak's regime fell, it appeared in the world as a well-organized political force.
